How it started
From two college sweethearts to a family of three—every guide on this site traces back to one long, ongoing trip together.
Two students, one campus
It started in college in 2010—two students juggling classes, deadlines, and a growing crush neither of us admitted to for longer than we should have. We became a couple before either of us owned a real suitcase, back when our idea of an adventure was finding a decent turon stall between classes.
The travel bug did not bite until years later. In 2015, we finally booked a real trip together—a last-minute flight deal, a lot of winging it, and zero idea what we were doing. We made every rookie mistake in the book, discovered things that were not in any guide, and came home thinking: someone should write this stuff down.
So we did. The Wandering Hayaos is our honest attempt to document every trip since—not only the polished highlights, but the real version: delayed ferries, unexpected changes, honest accommodations, practical itineraries, and the exact amount we spent.
From classmates to co-pilots
The short version, one memorable milestone at a time.
Where it began
We met in college and became a couple—long before either of us had a passport with more than one stamp.
The first real trip
Five years later, we finally packed our bags for a real trip. That journey changed everything and started our shared love of exploring new places.
Making it official
After years of exploring together, we said “I do.” Marriage did not slow down the adventures—it gave each of us a permanent travel partner.
A tiny explorer joins in
Today, we are a family of three. Our daughter turns every itinerary into an adventure and reminds us why sharing honest family travel experiences matters.
